High Tower Challenge 2012 – Sporting Targets

High Tower Challenge at Sporting Targets 2012

Sporting Targets held its annual High Tower Challenge event through out June and July, and attracted a total of 149 shooters, including the like of George Digweed MBE, Ed Solomans, Richard Bunning and Graham Stirzaker. Just slightly down on entrants from 2011

The one thing that set this, non registered event aside from others is that shooters can use what ever cartridge load they wish, up to a shot size 5. The targets, 50 in all, to say the least are extreme, being thrown off Sporting Targets 110’, 60’ and a small mobile tower throwing a fast mini.

As always the competition is shot in a FITASC style shooting from six stands in the Quarry layout.

The busiest time was during the Jack Pyke Pro Sport English Open, where many shooters shot both competitions. As last year the competition was generously supported by CCI International and Hull Cartridges.

Last year the layout was over five stands, as opposed to this year six, which suited some more than others, Ed Solomans dropping 1 target on his 2011 score at 47/50, while George Digweed gained 3 targets, shooting an equal 47/50. Ed and George share the high gun spoils this year.

Graham Stirzaker, Richard Bunning and J Lacy take equal high gun honours in the Pro Class, each scoring 44/50. Graham bettered his score by 2 over 2011. Richard dropped 1 over the previous year and Mr Lacy gained 1.

Matt Bone took an out right win in the open class with a great score of 44/50, gaining one target over last year.

Phil Bunyan also had an out right win in Cartridge Class with a score of 39/50, the targets and layout suiting him well and gaining 8 targets over his 2011 score, well done Phil.

We would like to thank everyone who took part and to our Sponsors CCI International and Hull Cartridge Company.
