Jack Pyke Pro Sport English Open 2012.
13th to 17th June
This year is the third Jack Pyke English Open, generously sponsored once again by Jack Pyke Pro Sport and including their famous and very well thought of “goody bag”, including; lanyard, cartridge style pocket knife, thermal mug, cap light, cap and of course the very handy cartridge carrier all the goodies are housed in. Held again by the team at Sporting Targets of Riseley, with the course designed and set, the long term weather forecast looked bleak with rain forecast for the week, well we should all be used to it by now!!
Wednesday was the first day and the clouds had gone, the rain had stopped and there was the sun!! Enter the first squad of the day went and on it was, amongst others, George Digweed MBE who stormed around the course only missing one rabbit to finish on an awesome score of 99, a first for Sporting Targets and a great achievement. Following closely behind was Ben Husthwaite, Paul Wilkinson and John Lee who shot an equally impressive 98 each, well done to you guys, exceptional shooting. Many of big names in the game also shot on Wednesday, Mickey Rouse 94, Barry Simpson 94, Stuart Clarke 93, Henry Arnold 93 to name but a few.
A class is led by Daryl Shillaker on 90 with Matt Sheppard close behind with 89 local junior, David Ferriman 17 & B class, smashed his personal best, beating everyone on his squad, by shooting a brilliant 90, well done David, Will Bland was the next in B with 82, C was headed up by Robert Young 81 & the featherweight Harry Seal (Jnr) shooting a calorie busting 85.
Thursday, unbelievable the sun’s out again!!! And with the good weather came some more good scores Richard Bunning 92, Paul Simpson 91 & Paul Lovick 90, Dave Shipman ( A ) 87 Nick Moss ( A ) 85, Simon Cook ( C ) 81, Becky Bream 84, Rose Brumby 84, Jack Lovick (Jnr) 87, the wind did pick up late in the afternoon, but overall the weather was good
With a very high calibre of shots entered for the week the course was set for a score of 96, in good weather, and also took into account the level of skill entered, so for the three 98’s and George’s 99 to be shot was phenomenal!!
